At present, clothing serves as a symbolic part that society has adopted as a means of expression, refuge and identity, clothing has been viewed and taken as an important element that accompanies people in their daily life, becoming an element that goes beyond its physical function of covering the body, but also acquires an emotional and expressive value that covers the body in an idealized way in the safety of the human being, becoming the armor and even the social mask that provides to the body a way of protection.
With fragile and opaque materials, this project interprets the way society has built on each person an image that uniforms and idealizes us in a way that our differences only belong within each one and the bearer of those distinctions is our body that remains covered by the social uniform that we wear day by day.
The artwork consists of a shirt and a skirt, in the style of the Mexican school uniform, made with a fabric built from hundreds of pieces of vellum paper sewn together with irregular quilted stitches on a layer of tulle, revealing very little of the model’s body. in the gaps between each piece.
